Dreamy canopy beds

I don’t know what it is about a canopy bed, but every time I walk into a hotel, and there’s one of these beauties waiting, my trip improves by about 100%, a bedroom is very important to your well-being and peace of mind.  It’s just so romantic and dreamy… you can’t help but love them.  I’ve been looking for the right style for my guest bedroom for ages, so here’s a few of my inspirational pictures…

Cool and calm, this seaside bedroom is a study in white

A very chic canopy bed by Mary Macdonald

Another pure white bedroom in a South African seaside town

The height of this ceiling gives the bed extra drama

A cosy cocoon in white…

A platform bed draped in mosquito net deliver a whimsical and romatic feel to this bedroom.  Textural rope, rustic wood logs and white linens bring the outdoors in and deliver a simple serenity.

With an ethereal white-on-white scheme, this sumptuously decorated bedroom capitalizes on the serene femininity that distinguishes Phoebe Howard’s work. Layers of fabrics, right down to the monogrammed bed linens, create a dreamy cocoon of a canopy bed that makes guests feel completely at home.

A cool breezy room in the bahamas by designer Tom Scheerer

A neutral palette need not be boring or even expected. This is a prime example of understated luxury that’s not at all over the top, a retreat where luxury mixes easily with affordability.

These lovely french wrought iron beds make a guest bedroom a memorable escape.

This must be one of my all time favourite bedrooms with two double heavily carved indian beds.  The different textures in neutral shades really complement each other.

This will make the most beautiful girls bedroom…  Delicate and fresh at the same time.

An effective way of turning a small bedroom into a charming guestroom with draped fabric.

Another quick and easy decorating idea for a children’s bedroom…

Even in a small room two 4-poster beds don’t seem too crowded.

A lovely room in my favourite interior shop in Cape Town, Cecile and Boyd

Crisp, elegant, very grown up and stylish.

I love the coral detail on this metal bed, and picked up on the piping in the canopy

Grey grey grey, I can quite happily live with just grey…

More coral trim is this sunshine yellow bedroom

Neutral tones make this a very easy bedroom to live in.

Just a touch of green freshens up this lovely canopy bed, and I adore the monogrammed pillowcases…

A wonderfully quirky bed.

This hand-carved bed by Joseph Walsh is truly a work of art

A black metal frame bed, beautifully paired with the inlaid mother-of pearl stools

Bold colors and ethnic patterns make this master bedroom the ultimate Mexican retreat. Against deep red walls, the crisp white bed linens and sheer mosquito-net canopy are a smooth balance of textures and colours.

This stunning bedroom makes up in stylish design what it lacks in square footage. Designer Lori Dennis coordinated a striped canopy with chocolate-brown bedding for a feeling of enclosure and elegance.

What a beautiful way to soften up a bare loft apartment

Even outside, I love 4-posters!
